Chauffeur tours planned around you

A good day out is rarely a straight line, because you want to stop at the viewpoint, linger over lunch and still be home when you said, so a fixed itinerary rarely suits. With private chauffeur tours, you choose the place, the pace and the stops, and your chauffeur does the driving, so everyone in the car can look out of the window.

So we plan each tour around your group, not around a timetable. Couples, families, overseas visitors and business guests all travel differently, so we ask what you would like to see, and then we shape the day, whether that is ten hours in the Peak District or a week heading north to Scotland. We help with routes, stops and hotels and we give recommendations, but you decide where to go and what to book. Our Mercedes V-Class is the usual choice, and larger vehicles are available on request.

Guide price

Private chauffeur tours: what they cost

Every tour is different, so we give a guide and then a written quote, and the conversation starts there.

Guide price from£700plus VAT, for ten hours
Vehicle
A Mercedes V-Class and an experienced chauffeur.
Length
A ten-hour day, from the time you choose.
Starting point
Anywhere in the UK, because we collect from your own front door.
Larger vehicles
A 16-seater Sprinter or larger, or an S-Class, is quoted on request.

This is a guide, not a fixed price, because the route, the start point, the hours, the vehicle and any overnight stay all change the figure, so your written quote confirms exactly what you pay.

Priced for what a tour is

Our vehicles are executive by nature, and experienced chauffeurs drive them. In addition, we are a fully licensed, VAT-registered business that invests in its vehicles, its booking software and its communications, so your tour is planned with care from the first message to the last mile. We put the vehicle, the hours and the price in writing, so you can see exactly what your tour includes before you commit.

Multi-day and overnight tours

Multi-day chauffeur tours

A longer journey keeps the same chauffeur and the same car throughout, so you settle in from day one.

  1. Day one

Collection from your door, and a first full day on the road.

  2. Overnight

Your chauffeur stays nearby, so the car is ready at the time you choose.

  3. Day two

The next stretch of the journey, at the pace you prefer.

When your tour includes a night away, your chauffeur needs accommodation, so the booking covers your chauffeur’s hotel, which is typically £70 to £250 a night, as well as an overnight charge for meals and incidentals. We advise the most affordable suitable accommodation near where you are staying, and the earlier we plan, the more cost effective it becomes, because last-minute arrangements usually cost more. We confirm both in your quote, so you can see the costs before you commit. For the detail, see our page on overnight and multi-day chauffeur hire.

Questions about tours

Private chauffeur tours: your questions answered

What are private chauffeur tours?

Private chauffeur tours are sightseeing days or trips of several days in an executive vehicle with your own chauffeur. You choose the places and the pace, and the chauffeur drives, so you travel door to door without a timetable or a shared coach.

How much do private chauffeur tours cost?

As a guide, a day tour in a Mercedes V-Class starts from £700 plus VAT for ten hours. However, the final price depends on the route, the start point, the hours, the vehicle and any overnight stay, so we confirm the exact figure in a written quote.

Can you collect me from anywhere in the UK?

Yes. Tours are worth planning from any starting point, so we can collect you wherever you are and plan the route from there.

Where can I go on a tour?

Popular choices include the Lake District (Windermere, Keswick, Ambleside and Grasmere), the Peak District (Bakewell and Castleton), Snowdonia and North Wales (Portmeirion and Betws-y-Coed), the Cotswolds (Bibury and Bourton-on-the-Water), North Yorkshire (York and Whitby) and Edinburgh. We also plan Bath, the Highlands and other places, so tell us where you would like to go.

Is a tour guided?

Our chauffeurs are briefed on your itinerary, but they are not qualified tour guides. We help plan the routes, stops and hotels and we give recommendations, while you decide where to go and what to book. If you would like a qualified guide at a particular site, tell us, and then we will advise on the options.

Do you offer multi-day and overnight tours?

Yes. On a multi-day tour the same chauffeur and car stay with you, and your quote shows your chauffeur’s accommodation, typically £70 to £250 a night, together with an overnight charge for meals and incidentals.

Which vehicle should I choose?

The Mercedes V-Class suits up to six guests with luggage, so it is our usual tour vehicle. The S-Class suits one or two guests, and an Executive Sprinter or a 16-seater suits larger parties, and we quote those on request.

How many people can travel?

A V-Class carries up to six passengers, the Executive Sprinter up to eight and the 16-seater Sprinter up to sixteen. For a larger group, ask us about a coach or several vehicles.

Can we stop wherever we like?

Yes, within the hours you have booked, so tell us what you would like to see, and we will plan the stops around it, so you can add or drop a stop on the day.

What do you need to quote a tour?

First, send the destination, the date, your starting point, the number of guests and any overnight needs. With those, we can give you a guide quickly and a written quote once the plan is settled.

What is not included in the guide price?

The guide covers the vehicle, your chauffeur and the hours, but overnight accommodation and an allowance for your chauffeur, admission tickets and your own meals are separate, and your written quote shows what applies.

What if our plans change?

Because MCH reserves a chauffeur and vehicle once payment is taken and the booking is allocated, refunds are not available after that point. Standard notice is 24 hours, but tours that run for several days need longer, which we tell you in your quote.
