Funeral cars for families

Funeral cars for the family, arranged with care

When someone close to you has died, the practical details can feel like too much. Funeral transport is one of them, and it matters, because the family travels together at a difficult time. Our funeral cars give you a quiet, comfortable journey with an experienced chauffeur, so you can concentrate on the day itself.

We provide family cars only, so your funeral director arranges the hearse and we work alongside them. You choose the E-Class, the V-Class or the S-Class, and we collect the family from home, follow the funeral director’s plan and wait while the service takes place. Afterwards, we take everyone on to the gathering or home again.

If you are planning ahead or short of time, please call or message us. We will be glad to talk it through, and we put the cars, the times and the price in writing before the day.

Questions about funeral cars

Funeral cars: your questions answered

What are funeral cars?

Funeral cars carry the family and close mourners to and from a funeral, so they usually follow the hearse. We provide executive family cars with experienced chauffeurs, while your funeral director arranges the hearse.

How much does funeral car hire cost?

Although prices depend on the car, the three-hour minimum is £165 for the E-Class, £225 for the V-Class and £300 for the S-Class, all plus VAT. These figures follow our hourly rates of £55, £75 and £100, so any further time is charged at the same rate.

Do you provide a hearse?

No. We provide family cars only, so your funeral director arranges the hearse. We then work alongside them and follow their plan for the day.

Which car should we choose?

The E-Class takes up to three passengers, while the V-Class takes up to six and the S-Class one or two. If more family wish to travel together, please ask us about several cars or a minibus, and we will suggest what works best.

Can you work with our funeral director?

Yes. We are happy to liaise with them directly, because they know the route, the timings and the order of the cars. If you share their name and number, we will take it from there.

Do you offer a funeral limousine?

However, our cars are executive saloons and people carriers, not stretch limousines. If you are looking for a funeral limousine, the S-Class is our most formal choice, and the E-Class and the V-Class suit larger families.

Can you collect the family from home?

Yes. We collect from any address and take the family to the service, then on to the gathering or back home, so nobody has to think about parking or directions.

How long should we book for?

The minimum is three hours, because a funeral usually takes several hours from collection to return. That makes three hours a sensible starting point, and we will help you work out the time you need.

Will the chauffeur wait during the service?

Yes, because we plan the waiting within the hours you have booked. Your chauffeur waits nearby, so the car is ready as soon as the family comes out, and your written quote shows the waiting time.

Do you cover areas beyond Manchester?

Yes. If you are looking for funeral car hire near you, we collect from any address in Greater Manchester. We also drive to any church, crematorium or cemetery across the UK, but long-distance journeys are quoted in writing, because the distance changes the hours.

How much notice do you need?

As much as you can give us, because we reserve a chauffeur and a car for you. However, we understand that funerals are often arranged quickly, so please contact us even if time is short, and we will do our best to help.

What if the plans change?

Because MCH reserves a chauffeur and vehicle once payment is taken and the booking is allocated, refunds are not available after that point. We understand that funeral dates can change, so please contact us as early as you can, and we will do our best to help.
