A Southampton cruise terminal taxi alternative

A cruise begins long before the ship leaves, and for many guests the journey to the port is the part they worry about most. Cases are heavy, check-in times matter, and a long drive from Manchester can feel like a lot to organise.

A private chauffeur takes that worry away. We collect you at your door, load your luggage and drive you to the terminal named on your ticket, so you arrive rested and ready to board. Because your car is arranged in advance, you are not looking for a cruise terminal taxi on the day, and the price is confirmed in writing before you travel.

We choose the Mercedes V-Class for most cruise transfers, because it is roomy and comfortable and the luggage fits easily. If you travel in a larger party, we will be happy to suggest an Executive Sprinter or a minibus.

The Southampton route

Manchester to Southampton cruise port

Southampton is the route most guests ask us for, so here is how the day works and what it costs.

  1. Collection at your door

Your chauffeur arrives at the time we agreed and loads your luggage, so you can settle in.

  2. The journey south

The drive takes about 4 hours 25 minutes without stops, so we plan breaks and traffic into the timings.

  3. At the terminal

We take you to the terminal on your ticket, and you can go straight to check-in.

  4. Back again

When you return, your chauffeur meets you at the terminal and drives you home.

The V-Class

Why the V-Class suits cruise luggage

A cruise means big cases and a long road, so the vehicle matters as much as the route.

Most of our cruise guests choose the Mercedes V-Class, because it is roomy, comfortable and easy to load. If you would like something different, we will be glad to talk through the options.

Look inside the V-Class
  • Space for the casesUp to six passengers and six cases, so cruise luggage travels with you and not in a second car.
  • Seats made for a long driveComfortable seats and room to stretch, which matters on a journey of several hours.
  • One car, door to doorThe same car collects you from home and meets you again when you return.

Questions about cruise transfers

Cruise transfers: your questions answered

Do you offer cruise transfers from Manchester to Southampton?

Yes. Southampton is the route most guests ask us for, and we collect you from your own front door and take you to the terminal on your ticket. A V-Class transfer starts from £737 plus VAT one way, and we confirm the final price in writing.

How much is a cruise transfer from Manchester to Southampton?

Although every journey differs, a one-way V-Class transfer to Southampton starts from £737 plus VAT. The final price depends on the pick-up address, the timings and any extra stops, so we put the figure in a written quote.

Which cruise ports do you serve?

We serve Southampton, Portsmouth, Dover, Harwich, Tilbury, Liverpool, Newcastle and Greenock, and other UK ports are available on request. Please tell us the port and the date, and we will do the rest.

Can we book the return journey on the same booking?

Yes. The outbound journey and the return can go on one booking, and your chauffeur meets you at the terminal when you come back. We quote both journeys in writing, so you know the plan before you sail.

Is this a Southampton cruise terminal taxi alternative?

Yes. A private chauffeur is a calmer cruise taxi alternative, because your car is booked in advance, collects you at home and comes with a price in writing. If you are comparing options, our comparison table above shows the differences.

How long does Manchester to Southampton take?

The drive is about 229 miles and takes around 4 hours 25 minutes without stops. However, traffic and breaks add time, so we plan them into your collection time.

How much luggage can a V-Class take?

A Mercedes V-Class carries up to six passengers and six cases. If you travel with more luggage or a larger party, please ask us about an Executive Sprinter or a minibus.

Can you take us to any terminal at the port?

Yes. We drive to the terminal named on your cruise ticket, so please send us the ship and the sailing date, and we will confirm the right drop-off point with you.

Can you collect us from home or a hotel?

Yes. We collect from any address, including a hotel the night before, and our hotel transfers page explains how that works.

What if our plans or the ship’s timings change?

Please tell us as soon as you know, and we will do our best to adjust the plan. However, we are a chauffeur company and not a ride-hailing app, so we cannot guarantee a vehicle at very short notice.

Do you offer a cruise chauffeur for larger groups?

Yes. For larger parties we use an Executive Sprinter or a 16-seater minibus, and we quote those on request. Once you tell us the numbers, we will suggest the right combination.

What if we have to cancel?

Because MCH reserves a chauffeur and vehicle once payment is taken and the booking is allocated, refunds are not available after that point. Standard notice is 24 hours, but longer journeys need more, which we tell you in your quote.
