Chauffeur FAQs on booking and payment

How do I book a chauffeur with MCH?

Use the booking tool on our booking page to enter your journey, see your price and confirm. If you would rather talk it through, message MCH on WhatsApp or call, and we will arrange the booking with you. Read more: Book a chauffeur

Can I see a price before I book?

Yes. You see the price for your journey before you commit. Read more: Check your price

How do I pay?

You save your card securely through Stripe when you request your booking, and MCH usually charges it about 24 hours before your journey, or earlier for multi-day and multi-journey bookings. Chauffeurs never accept cash or card payments themselves, so everything is settled in advance. Read more: Payment terms

Is my booking confirmed straight away?

No. An online booking is a request until MCH accepts it. Read more: Booking

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Standard bookings need at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or amend. Peak dates, large events and multi-vehicle bookings can need longer, and once MCH has taken payment and allocated a chauffeur and car, refunds are not available. Read more: Cancellation terms

Can I book at short notice?

MCH welcomes last-minute bookings subject to availability, although we encourage at least 24 hours’ notice. For an urgent journey, message us on WhatsApp or call, and we will tell you straight away whether we can help. Read more: Contact the team

What details do you need to confirm a booking?

Send the collection and destination addresses, the date and time, the number of passengers, the luggage and your preferred car. For an airport journey, we also need the flight number and the lead passenger’s details. Read more: Contact the team

Can I change a confirmed journey?

Contact us as early as you can. We will check the new time, route, passengers and car against availability and the chauffeur’s schedule, but changes cannot be guaranteed, and standard bookings need at least 24 hours’ notice. Read more: Changing a booking

Waiting time, charges and cancellations

How long will my chauffeur wait?

For airport collections, the first 60 minutes of waiting from the booked time are free. For hotels, train stations and ordinary addresses, the first 30 minutes are free. Read more: Waiting time terms

What happens after the free waiting time?

Waiting charges apply, typically from £50 to £70 per hour depending on the car. We wait as long as we possibly can, but if more waiting would harm the chauffeur’s next commitment, we may have to treat the booking as a passenger no-show. Read more: Waiting time terms

What extra charges can there be?

Charges can apply for extra waiting, extra stops, route changes after the journey starts, extra mileage, parking, tolls and drop-off fees where they apply, vehicle return charges and any extra cleaning or damage. Your written quote shows the price you agree. Read more: Additional charges

What is the standard cancellation period?

Standard transfers need at least 24 hours’ notice. However, some bookings, such as private tours, golf tours, multi-day travel and journeys with several cars, need longer, and we confirm the notice in your quote or booking confirmation. Read more: Cancellation terms

Can I get a refund after payment?

Once we have taken payment and allocated a chauffeur and car, refunds are not available, because those resources are reserved for your journey. However, if you contact us early with a problem, we will talk it through with you. Read more: Cancellation terms

What happens if my flight is delayed?

MCH monitors your flight on airport collections and includes 60 minutes of waiting from the pickup time you select. If a delay runs beyond that, MCH tries to extend the wait but cannot guarantee it, so please tell us about any change early. Read more: Booking

What if payment cannot be collected?

If payment cannot be collected, authorised or cleared before the journey, we may be unable to provide the service, so please check your card details when you book, and then we can confirm quickly. Read more: Payment terms
